I speak with Kat Morgan, a food systems professional with expertise in anthropology, environmental health, and communications. Currently pursuing a Master of Public Health degree at Columbia University, Kat is dedicated to addressing the intersection of food systems, environmental issues, and health disparities. In addition to her work with the Rockefeller Foundation, Kat also hosts the “Oh, Crop” podcast.
About Kat
Kat's previous experience was the with the 2022 Periodic Table of Food Initiative (PTFI) Summer Associate at the Rockefeller Foundation, working under the guidance of John de la Parra, has provided valuable insights. As a returning Rockefeller Foundation Food Team Summer Associate, she continues to contribute her expertise.
Her role at the Foundation aligns perfectly with her studies, providing enriching research, writing, and problem-solving opportunities. Currently, Kat is researching and finalizing a report on legumes and agroecology through her role at the Rockefeller Foundation. She supports the PTFI by leading a scoping review on drivers of variation in food composition.
With a Bachelor's degree in cultural anthropology from Emory University, Kat understands the connections between culture, food access, quality, and health outcomes. She has practical experience on organic farms in Spain and the United States and firsthand knowledge of regenerative agriculture and community-based food initiatives.
