Resource Roundup: New educational videos available on the Teach Ethnobotany Channel
I've posted a selection of videos from the 2023 joint conference of the Society for Economic Botany and Society of Ethnobiology meeting on YouTube.
Last summer, I had the pleasure of welcoming hundreds of ethnobotanists and ethnobiologists to Emory University in Atlanta, GA for the joint meeting of the Society for Economic Botany (now renamed The Society for Ethnobotany) and the Society of Ethnobiology. As a hybrid meeting, we recorded many of the lectures with permission for asynchronous viewing. For the first time, these recordings are now accessible to the public on the Teach Ethnobotany YouTube Channel.
To access the videos, you can go to Teach Ethnobotany on YouTube, or go directly to the Conference Presentations playlist. There is so much valuable educational content to explore here! Here are just a few of my favorites:
1. Opening remarks and Keynote by Robin Wall Kimmerer, joined in conversation by Dr. Pamela Spalding, Dr. Lindsay Borrows and Dr. Nancy Turner.
2. The (R)evolution of Indigenous Foodways by 3-time James Beard award-winning Chef Sean Sherman
3. African ayahuasca “afriahuasca” and the “tree of life” – The search for DMT & β-carboline alkaloids by Nicholas Sadgrove
5. The Power of Healing Gardens by Lisa Philander
5. Effect of outdoor and controlled environment drying on quality of hemp flower grown for cannabidiol by Noelle Joy
6. Uncovering Intellectual Property Rights Issues in Yajé (Ayahuasca) Ethnobotany
On this playlist, you will find more than 300 conference lectures from meetings going back to 2012! I am still working on loading additional recordings from the 2023 conference. Subscribe to the Teach Ethnobotany YouTube channel for free access to this incredible resource and for notifications when new videos are posted.
